COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS COMMUNITY MEETING

COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS COMMUNITY MEETING

On Monday, September 17, there will be a Community Meeting at Crestview High School at 6:00 p.m. to inform parents and interested community members about the transition to the Common Core State Standards.  Florida is one of 44 states who have signed on to fully implement the CCSS by the 2013-2014 school year.  This year, we are beginning the transition of standards from the Florida Next Generation State Standards to the CCSS.  Standards drive the curriculum in elementary grade levels and in all middle and high school courses.  The CCSS will change the standards in English/language arts and math classes as well as reading and writing standards in social studies, science, and electives.

The meeting on the 17th will be to explain the transition process and answer questions on how this will affect our students.
